The Corsair by Lord Byron. The Corsair: A Tale was Lord Byron's much anticipated and influential work, selling over ten thousand copies its first day of publication, February 1, It is structured as three voluminous cantos (similar to Dante's Inferno, which he references at the opening of each of his), followed by several individual poems which can be read alone, or as part of this volume.   The plot revolves around the life of Conrad, the Corsair from the poem’s title. The first canto details Conrad’s decision to raid the riches of the Sultan Seyd, and his wife’s endeavours to make him change his mind and stay at home. The second canto details the raid itself. Conrad and his men launch their attack on Syed.

First, I have to say that “The Corsair” is a tale told in verse, as it’s very long I have chosen three verses: verses X, XI and XII from the First Canto which is as an introduction of the characters, theirs roles and the story and, of course, the presentation of the protagonist called Conrad.

The Pamphlets and Tables subseries includes two pamphlets, "A Short and Easy Method with the Deists" by Charles Leslie () and "Conrad and Medora; or, Harlequin Corsair and the Little Fairy at the Bottom of the Sea" by William Brough (undated).

The Corsair is a canto within a canto. I am somehow amazed to see a very coherent poetic pro "Then give me all I ever asked — a tear." I thought I might find Byron, even if he's the most rockstar of them all, a nuisance like Wordsworth in the English Romantics/5(25).

The ballet "Le Corsaire" was inspired by George Gordon Noel Byron's (Lord Byron's) poem "The Corsair." This is a poem in three Cantos and the word corsair refers to a pirate operating in the Mediterranean Sea. My knowledge of the ballet is from two versions, the Kirov Ballet production and the American Ballet Theatre production.
